At the meeting with the Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Andriy Reva on 23 April in Vilnius, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius noted that Lithuania spared no effort to create a legal framework to ensure social guarantees and equal rights to the citizens of Ukraine working in Lithuania. It is equally important to ensure the provision of social guarantees to the citizens of Lithuania working in Ukraine.

“It is important to prepare a draft bilateral agreement that will address important contemporary issues and define social rights of Ukrainian citizens working in Lithuania and of Lithuanian citizens working in Ukraine,” Lithuania’s Foreign Minister said. The Ukrainian Minister of Social Policy reassured that such bilateral agreement would be drawn up in 2018.

The delegation headed by the Ukrainian Minister of Social Policy is visiting Lithuania at the invitation of the Minister of Social Security and Labour of Lithuania Linas Kukuraitis. The purpose of the visit is to discuss issues of staff recruitment and social protection in the two countries, including practical issues, the scale of problems, and the content of the future bilateral agreement. The delegation of Ukraine will also meet with representatives of Lithuania’s Ministry of Social Security and Labour, and its subsidiary institutions, as well as with representatives from the Ministry of the Interior.
