CULTURE: CELEBRATION OF IMPORTANT DATES FOR LITHUANIA IN THE CITY HALL OF BRUSSELS ON 2009 03 09

The Day of the Re-establishment of the Independence of Lithuania and the Millennium of the name of Lithuania was ceremonially celebrated in the Town Hall of Brussels on the 9th of March 2009 at 7.30 p.m.
The guests were received in the concert hall of the prestigious Town Hall of Brussels. The Vilnius String Quartet performed the pieces of K. Vasiliauskaitė, J. Naujalis, F. Schubert and E. Schulhoff. Ambassadors and diplomats of various states, high officials of EU institutions and NATO, Honorary Consuls of Lithuania in Belgium and Luxembourg as well as other honorary guests have participated in the event.Ambassador of Lithuania to the Kingdom of Belgium and for the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg H.E. Nijolė Žambaitė delivered a solemn speech. Permanent Representative of Lithuania to the European Union H.E. Ambassador Rytis Martikonis and Permanent Representative of Lithuania to NATO H. E. Ambassador Linas Linkevičius have participated in the event.
The event was organised jointly by the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to the Kingdom of Belgium and for the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the European Union and Permanent Representation of Lithuania to NATO.
