Legalisation of documents

Legalisation of documents

Documents for legalisation which are issued by the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria (Algeria) are to be presented for legalisation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania or to the Embassy of Lithuania in Belgium (the Lithuanian Embassy). Latter documents from Algeria to be submitted to the Embassy must be already additionally attested by the Consulate General of Algeria in Brussels.

Other documents issued by countries being non-member states of the Hague Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents (Apostille Convention), which are to be legalised may be accepted by the Lithuanian Embassy only from persons who legally reside in Belgium and are issued to them. These persons may submit for legalisation their own documents or the documents of their family members (parents, spouses, children). NOTE: such documents, provided they have been additionally attested by the Embassy or Consular Post of the respective country, which are resident in Belgium will be accepted for legalisation by the Lithuanian Embassy.

Documents for legalisation are to be submitted in person.

Documents have to be orderly and readable. If the document consists of few pages, they have to be affixed or sewn together.

Each document is approved separately (e. g. diploma and its appendix are two (2) separate documents).
