Delegation of Lithuanian life sciences and scientists in Belgium

May 8-10 a delegation of Lithuanian life sciences and scientists led by Vice-Minister of Economy and Innovation G. Vilda visited Belgium. Thirty-five members of the delegation representing Lithuanian universities and six companies on 8 May has visited IMEC, one of the world's leading centers for research, nanotechnology and digital technology innovation, in the technology transfer unit of the Catholic University of Louvain (U. Leuven). Later in the day, the Lithuanian-Flemish Life Science Forum, which was attended by about 60 life science representatives, was presented by the Vice-Minister of Economy and Innovation G. Vilda, Investment Flanders Investment and Trade Agency, together with Flanders Investment and Trade Agency, Business Lithuania and Lithuanian Science Communication Office LINO. Department Director J. Verzeele, EC Senior Officer for EU Health Strategy Mr Clarotti, presented success stories of Lithuanian-Flanders cooperation.

May 9 The delegation claimed to be one of the most numerous delegations at the Flemish Knowledge for Growth conference in Ghent. In bilateral meetings of Vice-Minister Vilda with Flanders Secretary-General for Economy, Science and Innovation, Mr Hanssens and Head of Life Sciences Cluster FlandersBio, Mr Dhooge discussed options for further strengthening Lithuanian-Flemish cooperation in life sciences. May 10 The delegation visited the FBI Institute for Life Sciences VIB.
