EUROPEAN DAY OF REMEMBRANCE FOR THE VICTIMS OF TOTALITARIAN CRIMES ON 23 AUGUST 2013 IN VILNIUS
Lithuania, as Presidency of EU Council, will continue the tradition of organizing Europe-wide events to commemorate the victims of totalitarian crimes. Commemoration will include the candle-lighting ceremony by EU Ministers of Justice as well as the youth oriented conference, with the topic of “The traditions for the commemoration of Europe-wide Day of Remembrance for the victims of totalitarian regimes“. The events will continue on 22-24 August 2013 with the youth bus-trip “Road of totalitarianism and resistance”, visiting the main sites of Nazi and Soviet totalitarian crimes in Lithuania.
If you are a young representative (up to 35 years) of the NGO, non-profit or education institution from one of the EU member states, working in the area of commemoration of totalitarian crimes, and interested in coming to Lithuania on 22-24 of August to deepen your knowledge about our common past, do not hesitate to send an email to vytautas.mikenas@urm.lt requesting further information. Registration will close on 2nd August 2013.
