On 6th of July the Lithuanians in Brussels celebrated Statehood Day by proudly singing the Lithuanian National Anthem at the very symbolic place – the European Parliament’s Esplanade Solidarność.

This year more than 150 Lithuanians joined the tradition to sing the National Anthem of Lithuania all around the globe.

After the solemn singing, the Statehood Day celebration continued at the Lithuanian Embassy in Brussels. The reception was opened with a welcoming speech addressed by the Ambassador Gediminas Varvuolis.  Later the evening proceeded with Lithuanian folk songs performed by a Lithuanian community choir.

The tradition to sing together the National Anthem unites Lithuanians all over the world. It was originally started to commemorate the millennium of Lithuania‘s statehood and grows stronger every year.
