ULC held a conference about the Baltic States 10 years after the biggest EU enlargement

On the 30th of September Ambassador Gediminas Varvuolis together with his Estonian counterpart Gert Antsu spoke at the conference „The Baltic States, Ten Years after European Integration“ hosted by the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve. Ambassadors presented the European and Transatlantic integration of the Baltic States, the expectations that the new EU members had in 2004 and their current political and economic achievements

The conference was attended by a large number of students who showed particular interest in the future enlargement of the EU, the situation in Ukraine and other Eastern Partnership countries. Ambassador G. Varvuolis also introduced key achievements of the Lithuanian EU Presidency as well as current Lithuanian diplomatic priorities.

Discussion was moderated by dr. Philippe Perchoc, a specialist in Baltic political history studies, the author of „Les États baltes et le système européen (1985-2004)“.
